M. Frederic Mitterrand, Minister of Culture and Communication has made the trip to Chambéry Friday 20 January to launch national and regional levels of the year Rousseau. He expressed his happiness to be present in the city of the Dukes on this occasion, stressing that it will not take too much of a year to explore the complexity of the character of Rousseau.
The year dedicated to the tercentenary of the birth of Jean-Jacques Rousseau has been launched.

The Rhône-Alpes, where Rousseau lived and traveled, and especially the city of Chambéry, where he lived between 1731 and 1742, are the appointment of the anniversary.

Chambéry is a tribute to a great writer of the Enlightenment, that formed in its walls. It is up to Charmettes, in "an isolated house on the slope of a valley", close to the city, Rousseau gives birth to his thought : self drive, it is a "store of ideas", precursor of Romanticism, he discovered the importance of nature.

Among the reasons that make this event an important meeting point for all, there is the modernity of the thought of Rousseau, particularly in the field of education ; 2012 is also the 250th anniversary of the publication of Emile, or Education and the Social Contract, published in 1762.

Many events will celebrate Jean-Jacques Rousseau throughout this year 2012.
